Mubaje urges unwavering loyalty to UMSC amidst challenges
The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, delivered a powerful message encouraging Muslims to remain loyal to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) despite any obstacles they may face. He emphasized that the foundation of UMSC rests on unity.
Mufti Mubaje shared this message during the memorial prayers, known as Duwah, organized by the family of the late Sheikh Badru Ddamulira. Sheikh Ddamulira, the former county Sheikh of Twale Mawokota B, dedicated 37 years of his life to serving Islam. The event took place on Sunday, May 12th, 2024, at the deceased family's home in Lwajinja village, Kituntu County, Mpigi district.

During his speech, Mufti Mubaje paid tribute to Sheikh Ddamulira and urged Muslim congregants to follow his example of loyalty to UMSC. He quoted the Holy Qur'an, urging his audience to lead righteous lives and uphold truthfulness.
Prof. Dr. Badru Kiggundu, the former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, commended Mufti Mubaje's administration for its achievements within UMSC. He specifically mentioned Mufti's decision to appoint him as the Chairman of the National Mosque Construction Committee, a challenging role undertaken "without any foreseen monetary benefits." Prof. Kiggundu also highlighted Mufti's role as Chairman of the UMSC-based Islamic Call University College (ICUC) and encouraged Muslims to wholeheartedly support it. Mufti Mubaje concluded his speech by urging all Ugandans to participate in the ongoing census and encouraging Muslims to access government-designed Parish Development Model funds for poverty alleviation, emphasizing their accessibility.
The event also featured additional speeches by Sheikh Abdu-Karim Abdallah Katamba, the Director of Halal, as the guest preacher, Sheikh Juma Mawejje Kabanda, the Regional Assistant to the Mufti for West Buganda, and Sheikh Muhammad Idd Kabuye, the host Kadhi. They provided updates on Islamic activities in the region and the district, respectively.
Regarding the deceased's family, Sheikh Swaib Bwanika Kasonso, an employee at the Bank of Uganda, announced Sheikh Abbas Kasekende as the heir of the late Sheikh Ddamulira. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Sheikh Imran Ssali, the Secretary for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Badru Uzairu Wasajja Kiruuta, the Kadhi of Masaka, along with other sheikhs, local leaders, and cultural figures.
